as presented to the community meeting of March 7, 2006.
Achieve a high standard of design in the square, in keeping with the Annex’s place in Toronto’s cultural life. The result should be beautiful, welcoming to people, and open to a variety of uses.
Restore the turf on the western playing field, with properly engineered drainage, and provision for a winter skating rink.
Establish a long-term program for maintaining the square in good condition, especially the turf.
Develop a well-defined central space with seating, for the informal gathering of people.
Reinforce the western edge with planting or an attractive fence to create a barrier between field activities and the road.
Provide more generous spaces for play, for all ages.
Designate an area for quiet enjoyment of the square.
Provide a more carefully designed setting for the Jean Sibelius statue.
Find a way for the square to be shared among users who like to exercise dogs, and other adults and children.
